About May

Sex kitten. World class dancer. International runway model. These are just some of the phrases that have never been used to describe May O'Nays. May is an experienced performer based in Louisville, Kentucky with a background in musical theatre. She will sing, act, and cook her way into your heart.

May’s lifelong dream has been to join the ranks of the home making greats—Martha Stewart, Ina Garten, Nigella Lawson, and Amy Sedaris as a queen of homemaking. May loves taking drag into the community and into places that don’t typically see this art form. You can find her teaching cooking, crafting, gardening, and doing drag queen story time all around Louisville, Kentucky and the midwest.

In Spring of 2022, May was proud to debut her self-written cabaret, Tuba Atonement, for which she won the Broadway World 2022 Award for best cabaret performance. In the show, May gives an inside look of what it was like to grow up as a country queer in rural Indiana.

May’s 2nd annual cabaret show, co-written with Eric Sharp opened to much acclaim in March 2023. In the show, May impersonated famous anti-gay activist, Anita Bryant, as she went on a fictional tour to gay bars apologizing to LGBTQIA+ people in the hopes of getting an invitation to her granddaughter’s same-sex wedding. Spoiler Alert. It goes poorly. The show finished its run being invited to participate in the Louisville Fringe Festival, in August 2023.

Stay tuned for her next annual show coming to you in March 2024. In the show, “Won’t You Be My May-bor,” May tries her darndest to escape from the toughest escape room she’s ever encountered—a Mister Rogers themed room.

If you have a gig out in the community you’d love a queen at but have thought, “there’s no way a drag queen would want to do this,” just holler! I’ll probably do it.
